5 Days Cattle Camp Tours of Dinka and Mundari Tribes

There are several tribes in South Sudan who rear cattle for their livelihood. For instance, around Juba live the Mundari and Dinka tribes who dwell in tents. Here, division of labor works well with the young boys being charged with the responsibility of collecting fresh cow dung, spreading it in the sun to dry and later in the evening putting it into piles which are then set on fire. The fire is useful as it repels flies and mosquitoes. It also provides warmth for both the cattle keepers and their animals at night when it’s cold. Young women and girls milk cows in the morning before they are driven to the grasslands to graze and again in the evening upon return. The young men herd the animals while mothers look after young children.

Day 1: Arrive in Juba City.
Arrivein Juba Citywhere you will be received by our team and drive 2hrs to Terekeka and where you willcamp for the night.

Day 2:Full day exploring Mundari Tribe and Cattle camp.

You will spend the daywith the locals and get to learn more about their culture and their cattle which is their livelihood. The Mundari people are very social and you will have an interpreter who will explain to you what is happening.

Day 3:Full day exploring Mundari Tribe and Cattle camp.

In the morning after breakfast and after seeing off the cattle to their grazing ground, you will depart to the Dinka tribe and spend the rest of the day there. You will have a chance to camp with them the entire night.

Day 4:Day with Dinka and drive back to Juba.

You will spend your morning with the Dinkasbefore driving back to Juba from 12 noon for the pre-departure arrangements. You will spend the night in one of the Juba hotels.

Day 5: Fly Home.
