There are several tribes in South Sudan ( Mundari Tribe Tour and Dinka Tribes Tour) who rear cattle for their livelihood. For instance, around Juba live the Mundari and Dinka tribes who dwell in tents. Here, division of labor works well with the young boys being charged with the responsibility of collecting fresh cow dung, spreading it in the sun to dry and later in the evening putting it into piles which are then set on fire. The fire is useful as it repels flies and mosquitoes. It also provides warmth for both the cattle keepers and their animals at night when it’s cold.
Young women and girls milk cows in the morning before they are driven to the grasslands to graze and again in the evening upon return. The young men herd the animals while mothers look after young children.
