The Shilluk, or the Chollo as they refer to themselves, are Nilotic people who live near the banks of the White Nile River in the Upper Nile region centered around the city of Malakal. They are the third most numerous ethnic groups in the country, after the Dinka and Nuer. Living by the Nile, the Shilluk rely on agriculture, livestock, and fishing for their livelihood. Unlike other ethnic tribes, the Shilluk are ruled by a single political or religious figure making their territory a kingdom.
